Any polished alloy bar would be a problem for me because it wouldn't be regularly polished and typically unmempt polished alloy looks sad.
not wanting to start an argument but, i have an alloy nudge bar that is lovely and shiny (that would love to grow up into a full size bar one day but thats another story) and looking very happy compared to "sad"

i put this down to the same reasons the bullbar on my last prado 90 series and also another 120 series i know of was always shiny and polished looking.

      and that is:..........

      electronic rust protection

there i said it. now here come all the experts, ho hum who cares. all i can say is it has always left my car paintwork and alloy materials looking exceptional and i get lots of positive comments from people who wouldnt know where to even start a 4wd. all i ever do is wash the prado including the bar on random occasions, this year about 4 times, and when i say wash, the bar gets a real quick wipe over.

so i can only put it down to the elec rust witchcraft gizmo doodah thingy under the bonnet which were also fitted to cars i mentioned above. so if you go alloy and want to be lazy cleaning your car like me (my reasons medically related tho) go fit a coupler tec. btw my car is black but always looks pretty good and i am not a clean freak with it

now lets try stay on topic

I am lazy, and I don't want rust protection, and I don't want to clean my car. What is the answer for me Mick?

My car lives outside 24/7 (no garage). I certainly wouldn't waste my time polishing it either! If you want a lovely polished bullbar to stay lovely and look nice, then don't go off the beaten track.......

Painted the alloy black helped. Both bars had winch fitted.
Why on the sahara bar did ARB delete the high lift jack points. Same basic bar. On the deluxe bar i had the shower hoses mounted just inside the bar and could put my fingers through to get them. New bar - no holes- bugger. If i need to use the hilift i can't with the sahara bar.

          Rusty.
and i would do it again, that is an ARB bar but not the Sahara as the alloy bit in the middle is a pain to keep clean. If only ARB would have kept the stainless bar like the early bars.
Alloy bars just don't cut it for me.

I too would go a ARB bar again and I would also go the Sahara bar again. A small tube of metal polish from SCA and 3-4 mins does the trick and it lasts quite a while.
I am also peeved with not having high lift jack points as the Sahara bar does come with them, even shown on the last few ARB brochures. Not sure why I didn't get one as I had discussed it with them, didn't notice until long after.

Yes as much as I wanted a deluxe bar, the Prado I bought already had the sahara bar & winch on it... I was trying hard not to go to an alloy bar becauase of the work required to keep it shiny and to my relief, mine is the earlier version which has the polished stainless steel hoop. I do however have a black car which is a bugga to keep clean!. I dont do enough outback country driving at this point in time to be concerned about the lack of protection up high, so the sahara for now, is providing the protection I need and also accomodates the accessories that I require in a good looking package.

I currently have just fitted a colour coded deluxe bar and if I was going to do it again, I would probably go a Sahara.
Personally I think they are the best looking bar on the market bar none.
Shouldnt listen to my mates telling me what I need I suppose, just do what you want to do
Definately Sahara for me next time, if there is a next time!

I am about to pull a sovereign bar off my 120 and was going to fit a TJM T13 but after close inspection I have decided to go ARB.
I think the bash guards and the finish is better on the ARB (the ones i looked at anyway), I read the build up that AJ120 did and that nearly swayed me to choose other than ARB but he also says that he is happy with the bar now.
I guess I will fit one and see...but I will be inspecting it close before fitting it to the Prado
