PVC water storage solutions

Hi there if anybody can give me any info.... i would like to pressurize a pvc made waterpipe, maybe with fitting some type of tyre inflater valve or something similar. Haven't yet been able to find any fittings through the net. If someone could point me in the right direction or have any previous experience to share that would be appreciated!!

you'll need to run the air through a 1/4" regulator, just use standard air quick release instead of a schrader valve.

out of interest, why are you trying to pressurise it?

i'm assuming you want to use a compressor too.. not a hand pump, hence the regulator.

I just want enough pressure to push water through a shower head fitting, I was hopin to make something up and then just add some air pressure when I needed to use it as a shower. I have a bushman tyre compressor. Do u think I can make something work with this compressor. If so do u have any idea where I can get the fitting I need?? Thanks for ur help mate

i'd suggest a small electric pump for that, would be much easier as its just ag fittings to hook it all up and you wont have the problems associated with pressurising a water system, if you can avoid using a compressor, i would.

Does this elec system just connect to a certain type of fitting on the waterpipe and then to a power source and suck the water out through itself, Or is the pump fixed inside the pipework?

Hi Joshua, I have an air operated shower system made form PVC pretty much like you are describing. Have a look at post #55 here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-trailer/page6 for some pictures, the ones with the Maxtrax also have the shower system. I just used a normal ryco 200 series click fitting to feed air in, and a click type garden hose fitting with a tap on the outlet.

It mostly works OK, I probably need to spend a bit of time and add a regulator to make it work well. I was originally going to use a different method to regulate the air pressure but it didn't work the way I had hoped! I have a mate who uses this system for his under trailer water storage on his camper and it works OK for that.

I am looking at changing a few things on my shower set up and may change to an electric pump, not sure which way to go just yet.

Hey mate thanks for that, it's exactly wat I'm thinking! wats the go with the ryco fitting is there some sort of adapter you can get because I was hoping to use my car compressor to add air, which as u know fits a tyre valve? And also is the other valve just to let air be release or does it serve another purpose?

Also mate about the regulator is that just to see the amount of pressure inside? Because I have a regulator gauge on my compressor. Would there any need for one on the pipework aswell that u can see?

The Ryco fitting is just a normal snap on air fitting (plenty of other brands such as Nitto out there as well), I gather your airhose must have a permanent tyre inflater rather than a snap on fitting to add whatever tool you like, so if you use a tubless valve stem that would be fine as well. The regulator is to reduce the air pressure, your compressor may pump to 100psi or more, put that much pressure in a 4" PVC pipe and you have yourself a recipe for disaster, 5-10PSI would be enough. So a regulator will make sure you only have the pressure you desire going into the tank, you can adjsut the regulator to whatever pressure you like.

The second fitting on my setup where the water comes out, I carry a length of hose with garden style click fittings, I have a shower rose with the same fitting on it, also use the hose for filling the water tank if near a tap, and washing the old girl from time to time if on a long trip. In case you are wondering the water outlet comes out half way up the tank but it has a bent piece of tube inse the tank acting as a pickup.
