  • Anyone have the double DIN radio (AVN11TP) from DigiOptions ?

    Hi ALL

Grabbed one of these from Matt a few weeks ago and now have it installed in the PRADO. Must say its a ton better than the 6 disc stacker and cassette player, only thing it was missing was the 8-track option :-)

I've got OZI now installed with the HEMA maps and its working nicely. I've managed to upgrade iGO to the latest version and its equally nice.

What I was curious about was has anyone installed TomTom on it ? I've got a few spare GB on the SD card and thinking of giving it a go. I've had a look at the NaviOne shell that lets you load multiple GPS apps and it seems easy to additional apps with a corresponding ICON. Has anyone loaded any additional "must have apps" ?

Oh, forgot to share how wonderful it was to install the reversing camera, now I know why I never pursued an Auto Electricans job :-) I used to install car alarms as a kid for pocket money but this "keyhole" installation work is at a new level :-)

    Hi Sandman
I've installed the same unit and I am waiting for the Hema CD to arrive. What did you do to upgrade the IGO8 stuff. Is the TomTom better than IGO?

Re the reversing Camera, they are a wonderful thing to have but I'm glad I didn't do the install. It still took the auto elect guy most of a morning to install the unit an the unit and he knows what he's doing.

What reversing camera did you install Chris. I have the older style to this unit and am looking to put a camera in so I can see the towball for easy hookup of the caravan.

I found the iG08 stuff on the austech forum, installed the latest Sensis maps.. Some guy has done a dump of his SD card, around 850mb and I grabbed that, it looks to have some interesting features. As for is TomTom better, I'm so used to TomTom as I've had it on a portable one for years. I've ordered another 16gb uSD card to have a play with, should be too hard to get TomTom going. On research it has a NaviOne launch app, there are heaps of details on the Austech forum for other launchers, the one Matt loaded works so I'll stick with it. The skin.ini file is well documented in how to add additional apps. Whatever you do make sure you have a copy of the original files or you'll be onto Matt for a replacement :-)

As for the camera, I paid him extra for the better quality one. I followed the tutorial on Lcool and it helped me getting the skin off the back door. Once that was off the rest was relatively easy, only thing that was a pain was working out (for the first time) how to get the rear lights off :-) I thought the CAM would take me an hour, try 4 hours as when its your own car you tend to make sure there are no clips left over and cable tie everything so it wont rattle :-)

Must say the reversing camera is cool though I'll haev to get used to leaving it in reverse rather than getting the car going in reverse and then slipping into neutral :-) Bad habits for sure...

Overall I've had more of a look on ebay and then researched them on Austech, Matt's units are probably at the high end of the price range however I knew it was going to fit into the 120 AND he put a phone number into his ad...

        Cheers..pete in Alice

Pete, did the camera you get replace one of the number plate lights? If not, where did it go and are you able to see the towball?

Scott, funny you say that I didnt see that bit of plastic till I was washing up after the install :-) Yes there is a 120 series plastic housing that would probably replace one of the lights or slip over it. I used the metal gimble bracket just to the right of the number plate light and drilled a hole to pass through the cable into the plastic housing, I just couldn't see a better way to do it than just squash the cable. After drilling the hole I went to Supercheap and bought a tube of Black Windscreen Sealant to patch up the hole.

Can I see the towball, you betcha, frikkin awesome view.. seriously if you want to use it to hitch a trailer, its definitely going to work....

Hi Scojohara, no idea of the brand of the camera. Its waterproof and the vision is fine, even at night the number plate light provides enough light to see where I'm reversing.

Definitely worthwhile dealing with Matt. I had a small issue where the radio decided to randomly change channels, called Matt on Saturday morning, left message and he called back within the hour. I had sorted the problem (just pushed lots of buttons until it worked again.) He said he's had a few reports of this problem but it been resolved but no one really knows how it was fixed. I think it was caused by turning on the European radio buttons AT etc on the bottom right of the radio screen. It was turning these off that seemed to fix my issue.
My camera is mounted under the number plate light and I can see the tow ball easily. Just need to get used to knowing where things are in relation to the guide lines on the screen.

Thanks for replies guys and thanks for the effort of the images sandman. I agree Chris, Matt is very good to work with and helps in any way he can. I think I will go one of these for the simple reason of easy hooking up the caravan.
                    Thanks again

Do you guys hook up PAL or NTSC reversing cameras? I was looking at this ebay model
                      http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....=STRK:MEWAX:IT

because it mentions 1/3" Sharp CCD but then it says to specifiy PAL if required.

                      Does it matter?
