hi i am looking to set my prado up for some moderate to semi hard ( but not extreme ) off road work and i was wondering what the ironman range is like for performance in regards to bull bars ,suppension and snorkels.

i work in the trade and im lucking enough to be able to get ironman at a good price, so i guess the real question is whether arb and tjm and the like are worth double the price in alot of instances. also so feed back from people whi have had ironman both good and bad products would be great

    cheers

    hi there
i put an Ironman 2 inch lifted suspension in my Prado about 12 months ago
i have done various trips offroad plus towing a fairly heavy camper trailer on badly corrugated gravel roads and the suspension has performed well

      Hi bh2905
I worked for ARB for a number of years and have fitted all of their products.I still believe that their core products are some of the best on the market. Have fitted OME suspension to my 120..One myth out there is that OME shocks are Monroe shocks ,this is certainly not the case as they are only made at the Monroe factory i have toured the place and they are made separatly. When you buy an OME kit it is an engineered package with shocks valved to control spring rates. Cheap suspension kits normally source components from different parts of the world so all you get is a spring and shocker that fits your car and usually the shocks have standard valving specs..I wish you could have seen the shocker spec sheet i use to have ,it had all the major brand specs and internal component list.
Some of the very expensive name brand shocks were actually poor quality so all you paid for was the name.

So the moral of the story is to do your research
(most cheap shocks come from Brazil and cheap springs from India and cost
about $15 each to buy from supplier) Look for good old BHP steel
It easy to copy someones product but thats not engineering!!!!!!!
      Hope this helps

Hey bh2905 I have had ironman suspension on my 120 now for since oct 2007, in that time I have gone through a set of front struts, I still has the original front, rear springs in, and the original rear shocks, that was 120k ago, springs in the front are starting to sag a little but that's to be expected with a winch and bar over the front, but over all I am very happy with the product, and yes it does get used offload lol. Cheers samo

Hi I had a iron man bar on my 90 series doesn't come close to the arb bar on my 120 would of hated to hit something with the ironman bar but have seen plenty of animal strikes with arb bars (work vehicles) I would pay the extra for arb cheap insurance in my opinion
          Cheers Wayne

I have an Ironman Snorkel and currently planning for an Ironman Bull Bar.

I think the ARB products are overpriced and the Ironman stuff is of a good quality.

I have Ironman Foam Cell suspension all around, (been in about 9 months) happy with the ride but have recently had issues with the front right strut rubbing on the spring. Ironman at Brendale have been great replacing the front springs and now the front right strut. My only other concerns is that the shocks and struts have rust marks on them from stone chips and also on some of the welds.

I have the ironman 9500lb winch. Installed about a year ago. I have drowned it many many times thru river / creek crossings and use it regularly (as advised by ironman ) . Never had a problem.
                  Cheers
