Pipe dimensions of ARB Deluxe Bar for 120 Prado

G'day All,

My 120 GXL is going in next week for an ARB Deluxe Bar, Dual Batt & Suspension. I went in there today to buy three ARB antenna mounts for my future bullbar. Turns out there's a few different sizes. I think the one on my previous 2007 Hilux ARB bar was about 47mm diam of the top bar on the ARB Deluxe Bar for Hilux.

Can anyone tell me what the size of the top pipe of their bullbar for those that have an ARB Deluxe Bar, so that I can order the brackets in advance and get them colour coded in time??

This is the style you need, only one size in this style. A couple of issues, you can't fit them on the side hoops as the hoops are not level hence the antenna will not be straight. Even where it is mounted on the inner hoop as pictured it hits the lower lip of the grille.

My advice, get the weld on brackets from ARB and get them welded on straight on the side hoops before the bar is painted.

Thanks for the info. I suspect the top bar is the same diameter of that of my Hilux ARB deluxe bar - about 47mm I think.

I note your comments re grill clearance... it's been nothing but drams trying to shoehorn 6 radios into a Prado - maybe I should've kept the Hilux...

Anyway, attached is a pic of how my Hilux was and I was hoping to do similar again.

I already ordered the bar about 5weeks ago, so there's no turning back.

Good luck. Looking at the way the paint has chipped on the brackets on your Hilux, I'd be inclined to leave them powder coated.

I asked the local ARB dealer about factory added antenna brackets, but he reckons they no longer do it. But you can buy ARB weld-on brackets - no good if you've ordered a factory colour-coded bar. Just can't win...

The chipped paint had nothing to do with the brackets or the paint & clear coat. It was a huge lack of patience on my behalf - instead of waiting for a few days to allow the paint to harden, about half an hour after spraying, I was installing them...

I was thinking this time to bake them in the kitchen oven, but the bloke at the paint shop today didn't think that was a very smart idea...

Update - I ground 3mm off the top lip which brings it inline with the clamp. This gives it enough space to clear the lower lip of the grille. Just need to paint it now as I ground the powdercoat off.

D4D, didn't your deluxe bar come with two factory antenna mounts? The bloke at my local ARB outlet told me they come standard. I'll be pi$%ed off if they don't... I'm starting to wish now that I saw one in the flesh rather than pictures before I ordered it...

Nik the ARB 120 bar does not come with any antenna mounts on the main hoop due to the grille clearance issues. The two antenna mounts he mentions will be holes in the side wings...

why do you need 6 aerials? you can mount them on a spare tire spacer? one on a roof rack? maybe a steel rear bar if you have one?
