I make up brackets to keep them behind the grille. Not planning to use much so keep it out of the way and safe.
Should have taken photos.
It depends how much wire they have allowed for you to play with.
On ARB ones its sideways at the drivers side near the end if the radiator. Your bar may be similar to ARB

Have a look at mine http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...9-Prado-GXL-TD post 18 and 20. The other day a mate pointed out that I should get some boots for the end of the cable where the solenoid is. If I drop a spanner etc it wont arc out.
I should note the solenoid failed due to corrosion after 12 months (they are not totally water proof like they say). When I get the new one I will put RTV around the joins etc.Winston.

ETA: I checked your posts and see it was a Mako winch you installed. I still want to know what RTV is though.Last edited by fido666; 30-12-2012, 11:57 AM.

Thanks Fozzy, hadn't thought about the temp side of things. I have a 150 and was thinking of mounting the box at the front on the driver's side where a 2nd battery would normally go. There's also room at the rear of the engine bay on the driver's side but that would be a) harder to reach if you had to plug in the wired controller and b) require lengthening of the cables.

I took my contactor pack out of the box and mounted it behind the bull bar.
120's have heaps of room behind the grille. Bonus cos the grille lifts with the bonnet.
Also if you hide the box, in car switches may be an alternative.

Does than mean you have to pop the bonnet to use the winch?Cheers, Leon
