  • easiest way to remove sovereign bar for access to other bits?

    Hi,

    long time lurker.....

I need to remove the sovereign bar from a 2007 120 GXL so I can replace missing screw from driver's side head lamp assembly

having a look I'm guessing the easiest method is
    - have a mate handy....
    - Remove the screws holding the inner guard linings in place
    - Disconnect the lights (indicator, parking and fog)
    - Remove the 8 bolts (4 each side) behind the plastic covers

    Have I missed anything?

Is there a specific torque the bolts need to be when I put it back on?

Will also be fixing the dodgy wiring Toyota implemented when they fitted the bar & giving it a clean

    Thanks,

    Steve

Had a another look and there's another 2 braces attached. So take it off from the chassis?

    cheers,

    Steve

That sounds like about it. take the 8 bolts out and the 2 at the sides, loosen the other spport bars to get movement to slip it off
Do them up tight! has it had the recall done? check that too.
if the side support bars are round it has not if they are flat it would have been done.

          Hi Stevemac
I think the actual bull bar fitting instructions may have been posted in a thread on the subject of the recall.
I know that i was emailed them from another member at about the time of the recall.
Fire a pm this way and i will see if i can locate it and send it to you.
          Cheers Troy

              Gday stevemac
Am just letting you know that you don't have to pull the sovereign bar off to fit a missing screw for the drivers side headlight as i have already removed my drivers side headlight to fit my home made catch can and didn't touch the bull bar at all which also means that you wont have to mess with the parker/indicator lights either.
If you want i can email the detailed pics on how to do it without touching the bull bar!
              Cheers
