Al-ko offroad hitch anyone use one

One of the problems with towing a van with a conventional hitch is that when hooked up I am unable to opern rear door.

Saw an article in caravanworld magazine where a Pajero owner had same problem and fixed it by fitting an Al-ko Offroad hitch.

Interested to know if anyone has fitted one and does it enable rear door to be opened when connected to van.

I have been thinking the same thing for when I get a new van later this year.

Use a ringfeder style automatic coupling. Rockinger make a small automatic unit.

It's the shit! Makes coupling a trailer ridiculously easy, you just reverse onto it.

Sure can, it's a ring and pin design so the ring will sit at the towbar receiver level. Definitely lowest profile set up you can get.

They're not for everyone though so might want to have a good look into it.

Other option could be a poly block setup which might be a little less agricultural/heavy duty just no where near as easy to couple.

I have this hitch on my camper for 2 years now I,ve had no issues you can open the door easy to hook up to the car my mates lpiont out how bulky it is in comparison to there trig hitchs until we hookup plus your not limited by the hitch if you need to use a different car

I have the poly block, nice low profile, allowing door to open. However, can be a bit difficult to get the pin in unless its well aligned. In all fairness I'd go something different next time.

Went with the DO35 and a couple of pics of Waeco CF50 and waeco fridge slide and DO35 coupling.

I use a rapid hitch for towing my van.
Can quick change from van to 6x4 real easy and you can open door no problems.
