Hope you can help me out with ideas, I would like the best option for towbar and trailer plug combinations which give me the best departure angles for my Prado. I am just about to take delivery of my new camper trailer and I am getting a new style of trailer plug for it. My current set up is a trailboss towbar with a trailer plug which hangs lower than everything else. The trailboss towbar is the same as the orignal Hayman Reece towbar for the 129 which was only connected to the chassis crossmember at the rear. From what I can see it gives a little better clearance, than the revised Hayman Reese towbar which connects to the side chassis rails as well, however, the trailer plug is in a crap spot. My campertrailer will weight about 850kg. Does anyone have any ideas on where the best spot to install a trailer plug is which helps with clearance along with opinions on towbar choices?
I thought of mounting it on the rear bumper and running the wiring through the chassis crossmember through a hole which I assume would be used for reversing sensors on some models, either way, any ideas are greatly appreciated.
I will add a photo of my current set up when I figure out how.
