  • Which company manufactures Toyota Roof bars?

    Hi all,

I picked up a set of 3 roof bars (the black aerodynamic type) recently. My Prado doesn't have roof rails ('05). Just wondering which company supplies them to Toyota? Rhino? Rola? or someone else?

The reason I ask is that I'd like to get a couple of bike carriers to fit them, as well as other bits and pieces and wanted to make sure I get the right bits.

    Thanks in advance

Do your roof bars clamp onto the roof rails or can it be bolted to the 6 points on the roof? You've got 3 so I assume they should bolt onto the roof and not need roof rails.

That's right, Andrew. No roof rails and bolt straight to the mounting points. They are the black ones the same shape as the original Rola's.

OK, so you can mount the 3 bars to the roof now or you need to get hardware in order to do so?

No, the bars fit fine Andrew - they came complete with all the hardware, etc. Just trying to work out which company's bike brackets etc will fit the bars.

Most likely Rhino. Have you got a photo? I think the one you have has the bar curving down to the legs?

Does it look like the Sportz bar from this page?

I just got some genuine Toyota racks on my Hilux which are made by Thule. Not sure if Prados are the same though.

i had trouble with the rhino universal holder fitting my toyota aero bars, i was told they should fit and there is a few different part numbers but one was a wrap around the aero bar and the uni holder locked onto top piece, was about 10-15mm short of wrapping around the aero bar took it back and went with another one from rhino that has a backing plate that slides into end of bar, plate was also too big but with a cutting tool was able to trim it down to size and make it work
