  • Air compressor tank

I have an aircompressor and tank from a previous truck and will be installing it on my new Prado when it arrives in August.

The kit I have is this one:-

I'm not real sure where I am going to mount the tank - any ideas?

Or should I just live with the compressor and forget about the tank - just worreid about the braided line getting hot without the heat shield.

I've been looking at a couple of spaces for a tank.

One possibility is down the back, in the space between the rear fuel tank and the rear bumper.

Another possibility is in the space between the chassis rail and the side step ... probably the driver's side. There's also more room for flexibility of location here ... and the chassis rail could provide a good support for a small bash plate to protect the tank.

The 1 gallon tank shouldn't be that big. The web site didn't give any dimensions of the tank .... or maybe I was just having a man look.

Chippy - I just ordered the Projecta Typhoon frpom the same mob, just in case I couldn't find anywhere for it to be fitted, though I don't know how the Projecta will like being fitted under the bonnet - its really hard trying to work things out in your head when the vehicle isn't in the driveway!

All i know is that I've spent lots of money and they car is not here yet and its frustrating the hell out of me - all I want to do is get in in the driveway so I can pull it to pieces and put extra things on it!

Another reason to have an ARB bar on the car - my tank is mounted inside the front of the bar.

Hope I've left enough room for the winch ops: ops:

          Hey Rav

The Projecta Typhoon is about the same size as the eBay clone I bought and fitted under the bonnet.

Thanks mate - they look alright to me - most review say they are good for weekend warriors, I hope it will meet my requirements - I seem to air up and down freguently, our area goes from beach to mud to shale in very short distances.

I used a 9kg fire extinguisher and mounted it between the tank and the bumper. I dont have it hooked up to a compressor. It's main use would be to supply more volume if reseating a bead.

I installed mine under the driver side (I live in Europe, thus is the left side  )

The tank is VIAR's 2.5 gallon

The clearance to the shaft is about right

Two "U" legs are used to screw it to the top
