    Re: Rear Bumber Reversing Sensors

Are the sensors installed too low or at the wrong angle?

Here is a set of installation instructions to have a look at, which may be of help:

It's mentioned in another thread. :| The control speaker is located in the left rear side panel near the bottle jack. You can turn the speak from HI to LOW to OFF.

Maybe we've been fortunate so far (reaches over and touches nearby wooden table), but we've not had any problems yet with ours. True, we don't get to get much benefit from them but on the few occasions when I needed them they helped. 8)

On the Prado I seem to have sounding sensors nearly the whole time I am in reverse, and so they are useless as a warning device

Agreed!!! its a useless piece of junk!!! Total waste of $500 IMO.
It gives false reading all the time, specially when the ambient temprature heating up, then it will constantly beep.
Went to Toyota to have it checked and on the first visit they said its because of the tow ball being in place, had it removed.
For next few days it behaves okay, but after that it was playing up again.
On the second visit to toyota, they said one of the sensors was faulty. Had it replaced under warranty.
It was okay for next few days, but after that it was playing up again.
It seems toyota can't really do anything about it.
I ended up turning the unit off bacause it was driving me nuts!!!!
Will hopefully be installing a reversing camera soon!!!

Go the reversing camera, it rocks!

I still use the mirrors, etc, but the camera allows me to get the tow bar lined up quickly and stops the fights with the missus who doesn't seem to remember to yell STOP but starts to furiously wave her hands, which I can't see as she is in the blind spot. But that's another story

                  Re: Rear Bumber Reversing Sensors

Does anyone know how to test the sensors? I tried simply running a jumper lead across each plug but it still sounded off, it was suggested that there is a certain amount of resistance and that a completly open or closed circuit will set the alarm off.
