  • Rhino Platform Rack

    G'day people

I hope that this doesn't cross over another thread, I did search and couldn't find a topic on them so they should pass security.

I saw a pic from Mike from the Central Coast with one of these, but he is the only person I know to have them.

I am looking at these http://www.rhinorack.com/AccSubCateg...rType_2_6.aspx and would like the opinion of others if they are using them.

Particularly, the standard width is 1100mm, however on installation, are they able to be adjusted to minimise the gap between each plank to reduce this overall size?

I have the Rhino heavy duty Aero bar (Toyota Sportz Bar) and will predominately be used for bags etc, so not needing massive load carrying capacity, but I do like these as an option verses Carry Baskets and the full aluminium rack with 4 sides.

    Cheers, Rhet

Considered what you're looking at against the Rhino platform (mesh) basket check out www.rhinorack.com/AccSubCategory_Platfo ... 29_50.aspx
Decided on the mesh jobbie because cheaper, and plenty scope for tying on to.
Essentially only used it for carrying a 2nd spare wheel up top, plus tent, gas bottle and firewood.
However noisy as anything when it has nothing on it (wind / vibration), fine with the wheel tied on.
Quick and easy to mount onto Thule Aerobars (same as Rhino Sportz).
    easy off too.

        Rhetly,

The platform racks and the roof rack planks are like a mechano set. I believe they can be bolted on closer, the planks I mean.

        Also replied to your email.
        Cheers,

            Hi Rhet

No there isn't an option to have the planks closer together. There are spacers between each plank that clamp them to the bars to form a solid structure. See the fitting instructions at http://www.rhinorack.com/AccSubCateg...ack_100_6.aspx for an idea of how the rack goes together. Let me know if you want further details
