Hi all,
Just to let you kno I have followed the advice on PP and ordered a UHF from Prestige communications in WA. I have been looking for a while now and thought fleabay would be the go, but read a few entries on PP which recommend Prestige. Not only were they cheaper than fleabay (which are about $100 better than the retail stores), they offer free express post. I ordered this morning at 10am and got email notification at 3pm that it has been shipped by airfreight. Good to see PP helps all with advice and where to save $$ too.
I orderd the Uniden UH015sx with antenna.
Just wish I had it already.

I purchased a GME UHF transceiver from Prestige as well as a GME antenna (specified model no.) When the equipment arrived by courier, I noticed that the antenna was a cheap Chinese clone. Prestige refused to answer any correspondence on the topic. I will not have anything to do with them again. In the end I purchased the genuine GME antenna locally.

This is the drama with companies selling proper gear really cheap online, if they only make $ 5 per radio they cannot afford any correspondence with the customer. A vicious circle that damages our industry, by selling a cheap rip off antenna they may get to make an extra couple of dollars which is their profit margin, with the majority of everyday people not noticing/caring etc. For your own interest have a look at the RRP for the radio.

But i must confess im guilty ops: of shopping aound on line and shafting the retail/dealer stores, mostly for motorcycle parts though.

ONe thing I noticed is that they sell the cheap antenna's when packaged with a radio. I bought my GME TX3420 & AE4702 aerial in the same sale, but not as a package. I've bought a few things from them and never had a problem.

Well I bought from Prestige and also bought a package deal. I certainly did not receive a clone antenna.

Found their service to be very fast.

my brother got a Uniden and I think an Axis brand aerial. Their service was very fast.

I picked up my GME TX3420 from Contact Communications earlier in the year. Real happy with product and price. Best price I could find.

I found their prices to be comparable with contactcom when I was looking (within a dollar or 2) and went with them because of what I read on PP. My pack should arrive today according to the airfreight advice so I will soon know what its like.

I went with Andrews communications and found the price delivered was the cheapest at the time. I ordered it after 4 in the arvo and had it in my hands a day and a half later. They had to send it from across the country to NQ..... Outstanding service.

I bought the ant. locally at a price that was good.

If you order what you want you wont have any complaints from any of these companies.

I also purchased from Andrews Communications. I live 20 minutes from them so was able to go there and pick it up, which meant I could inspect thoroughly before purchase. Gave me great peace of mind. They also recommended an installer, which was something I was not too keen to do myself. And they were cheaper than Prestige & Contact for the model I wanted.

I just ordered a GME Tx3420 through Contact Communications this afternoon and noticed a message on the homepage of their site stating "GME prices will rise on November 1st".

Whilst I'm not sure if this applies to all GME products (the message gave me the indication that it does) or if it applies to all retailers, but if you are looking at buying a GME product then it may be a good idea to do some asking around and order one before the end of the month so you don't get bitten by a possible price rise.

I used Prestige. The Antenna that I chose was not up to the job, and broke on not-very-rough dirt roads. I returned it and they sent me a new one very quickly. The new one failed as well, so I asked for a credit and chose a GME. The service I had from them was excellent.
