  • Ironman Bullbar Question

G'day all, heres a simple question but I know the answer may not be so. I am looking at an Ironman chrome triple loop winch bar, I love the style but don't like the grey hammertone. Ironman won't go into colour coding bars and to remove the hammertone is an expensive operation. So I thought about getting one painted straight over ther hammertone finish with Pearl White.
The question is how would it look and would it effect look of the pearl colour?

Ive looked at the Sahara bar but would like the extra protection over the lights and have looked at Macs(formerly FX) they do colour code but for a imported bar they are expensive.

    Re: Ironman Bullbar Question

If you go to the trouble of having the bar powder coated they can easily remove the existing hammertone with a light blast. Alternatively instead of the stainless bar you could go for the aluminium bar (if it is a winchbar?) which is available bare and then get that powder coated and have the loops polished. I am quite happy with the way the bar looks but then I think with silver the hammertone is quite ok.

The IPFs have been replaced by Lightforce 240s which fit within the 'buffers'. XGTs will also fit but stick out further in front.

ARB bars are imported too and I reckon you'd stuggle to find any bullbar that costs more than ARB.

Anyway, to answer your question the loops on the Ironman (and Macs FX) bar bolt onto the main channel. So you could unbolt the loops, take the channel down to your local paint shop, get the hammertone paint grit blasted off and then repaint in your desired colour.

Thanks guys, mjrandom it does look good with silver. I still would like to know how it would look to paint straight over the hammertone and I don't think that you can get pearl white powder coating (though I maybe wrong) :?

          Re: Ironman Bullbar Question

Here are a couple of shots with the 240s in place. I saw a white (GXL?) with an ironman bar on the weekend and thought it looked ok too. Will see if I can snatch a picture. Of course if you get it muddy and don't wash then the colour won't be a problem.

Look good, especially with the under body plates. Did you purchace it from Ironman or from a distributor like OL, who fitted it and was there any issue with fitting? I have been told by OL that you can get a good Monday bar or or a poorly fitting Thursday/Friday bar.

              Re: Ironman Bullbar Question

I was going to buy the bar (and all the other accessories) and fit them myself as I did on my 90 series but in the end I couldn't ignore OL's price to do the work and left it up to them. The bar etc was fitted by OL in Newstead and they did a fine job. The plates came with the bar except the one beneath the radiator which you can just see in the front on photo. I have no idea why so many bars come without a plate in this area. I made the plate up out of aluminium chequer plate like many others on this forum though I fitted it texture side up and overlapped mine onto the Toyota plate to stop any sticks getting between the plates. The ironman bar seems well made and fits fine. The only problem to date in 20k is a couple of the bolts that hold the under body plates came loose and the RH fog (driving) light has a bad connection occasionally and I keep forgetting to fix it ops:
