Is the TX3440 just a TX3420 with a different mic?

Hi,

I purchased a TX3440 today from a well known dealer. It was the pack with the TX680 handset included.

The 'black box' of the main unit says it is a TX3420, not a TX3440.

Is this right?

I think that the main unit of the two are the same. If you look in the GME catalogue the two units are grouped together, and they both offer the same features, so yeah, I would say they have just packed everything from the faceplate of the 3420 into the mic of the 3440.

I tested this by plugging the mic in to the different units at Anaconda one day (Bugger testing with my own!) It appeared to work Ok..

I had a look at the pics in the TX3440 thread here and it seems that all the pics show the serail as TX3420 so I feel better now
