  • woodgrain dash kit

I saw a add in a 4x4 magazine for a woodgrain dash kit reduced from $500 to $ 250 to fit the 120 so sent for one.It came today what a joke it was a plastic cut out to fit over the silver dash 18 pieces in total what happens after the sun does its bit on the plastic , it goes black after time. It didnt stick properly even after using their cleaner, not happy, spend your $250 on some thing else Randy

I've thought about repainting those plastic inserts. They seem to scratch very easily. I think you'd be much better off getting a second set of plastic inserts and painting them up to whatever colour scheme you desire. Not sure how you could do a decent job with a good looking woodgrain though. Every fake woodgrain I've seen looks dead. Some veneers are good of course but how you'd go fitting veneer to curved surfaces I really don't know. What you'd need to do is find a wrecked Prado and pull out all the dash pieces you'd need. Buying them from the spare parts shop would be daylight robbery for sure. Paint up the second set ultra metallic blue or something and then insert. You could always go back to the old ones that way if the new ones make you vomit.....
