Help - ARB Roof Rack query

Can anyone let me know how far an ARB Deluxe Steel roof rack extends above the roofline of a 120 series Prado. Looking to purchase one of these but I have limited clearance on my garage door and do not want to have to put it on and off each time needed.

I have 250mm clearance from the highest part of the roofline centre to the underside of the door frame. ARB Melbourne no help with details. Any help from someone with one of these racks would be appreciated.

You should be fine. Just went out and measured mine. There is about 3-4cm between the roof and the bottom of basket in the middle of the roof and the basket is 16cm high.

Hi Pacer59,

Welcome to PradoPoint - I'm new here too and others gave me the tip to introduce myself on the Introductions post in the General Forum (plus put your location in your profile before the moderators chase you up :wink: )

I agree with Kevin that you'll be right (just). My rack sits just over 200 mm above roof line at highest point (since roof is curved) making total height of vehicle around 2.05 m, so should be able to get into most underground carparks which seem to be around 2.1m.

Suggest you think about wind deflector as well as mine (with mesh floor) make a bit of noise at highway speeds. Probably wouldn't notice so much over the inherent "boom" of a Pajero but does affect the refined Prado. My old man has hearing aids and struggles to understand conversations in the vehicle on the open road with the rack on.

Note this is a heavy duty rack which whilst good from a strength perspective, it is a bugger to get on and off (ARB use 3 blokes to install!)

Others may have opinions on this.

My thanks to Kevin and Thurbie. Just the info I needed. I appreciate the comments re weight and getting on and off. I had one on an 80 Series Landcruiser and it was a bugger to get on and off. Took 2 of us then it was a struggle. Looks like this rack will make it under my garage front. Thanks also for the tip re wind noise - I'll certainly consider a wind deflector.
