  • Perspex Instrument Panel Cleaner...What do you use?

What do you use to clean your perspex instrument panel?
I have like a substance or marks that won't come off with just a soft shammy. Reason i don't want to risk scratching it or using a chemical that will damage any idea's would be good.

 Cleaned mine the other day just using a soft tacky rag. Only to find it appears the wife has been resetting the odometer button with her 1.5 carat glasscutter

The best plastic product ever, I been using it on my boat for years, Plexus. A very impressive product

            Addy,
I use Mr. Sheen (original formula only). I've used it on my bikes fairing screens and car instrument panels for years without problems.

For really fine scratches Plexus is the duck's guts as Steveo wrote. When I was flying light aircraft for a job our engineers used Plexus on the windscreens (plastic, not glass). Magic stuff.

              Thanks Steveo and John.
Looks like Plexus is the go, tracked some down at my local upholster $22.00 a can. Didn't have the cash on me when i spotted it, but will be back for it.

1 x damp microfibe cloth. Have been using Vileda for years now. Pick them up at Woolies or the like. No chemical cleaners needed. Also cleans all the windows inside and out without streaks... again no chemicals needed. I do this after a wash down as the chamy leaves some streaks.

                Cheers,

Okay so my wife has scratched the drivers side door window with her diamond ring. Has anynone found a product that will take out or minimise a scratch like this in glass?

                    hahahaha, yeah I hear ya!

Luckily it was not the Prado's window but the Getz's window that she did it to. Of course I got the "It wasn't me" routine.

Yeah ....... buy her a smaller diamond !

You can take her out ring shopping ... and suggest how thoughtless it was of you to buy her such a large rock in the first place ... and perhaps you should trade it on something smaller that doesn't cause her the same level of distress.

I reckon there's a slim chance that she will find a way to talk you around.

                      Cheers

Re: Perspex Instrument Panel Cleaner...What do you use?

A scratch in glass? Hmmmmmm I'd say you'd be at least looking at polishing it out. Even then there isn't many polishes that'd do it I'd say. Tried grinding down a glass dish once to make a little spot to put a spoon in. Well it didn't really work even with a tungsten carbide grinding wheel. Glass is tough stuff. Maybe crack the windscreen and claim another one under insurance and ask if they can fix the scratch at the same time. Either that or put another one on the opposite side and start a new trend. 8)

Hey Chippy: That danger sign in your sig is a classic   I'd print it in large format and attach to my rear window!

hey mav, this may or may not work depending on how bad the scratch is. Best way I find to get scratches out of glass is toothpaste (the proper stuff, not that foaming gel shite). I use it on my sunglasses every now and then to polish out scratches and it works a treat. just put some on a clean rag and polish away, then wipe off with a bit of water. toothpaste is basically a fine polish.

then when you are done with the window, give your own teeth a scrub and you can get a big smooch from the wife with the big ring!

Nope not on your life, she would love me too but I gotta draw the line somewhere and kissing her ring is definitely out of the question.

I'll back this one up as well. I used to use it when I got some nice scratches on the face of my watch. Works a treat and smells minty for the next few days.
