Toyota alloy bars are more "show than protection" as spurio has found out the hard way.
One reason why I went ARB style over geniune, the thing to remember is no matter how strong or big your frontal protection is a decent size of wandering bovine will usually win.

Geez! You guys are harsh! I like em! Bit impractical for a Prado I admit but they look tougher than an outback brick pullchain dunny! They'd be very good on a show car I'd reckon. And as long as you've got good mechanical assistance then polishing isn't a problem, once you build up a good shiny surface it only takes a light going over to bring the shine back. Those double side bars look decent and I could certainly do with something like that to keep pesky tree branches off my bodywork.
The Sovereign bars could certainly be stronger but they do at least offer some protection and are better than nothing at all. But yeah, they do look stronger than they really are.
