Under floor storage space

Hi,

has anyone made use of the space under the floor at the rear? Presumably this space is used for the spare on US/European models. I was wondering if anyone had made a storage box that could keep tow ropes, puncture repair equipment and tools in. Seems like such a waste of space to leave nothing there.

Hi Ranga,

I take it you mean under the vehicle at the back, with no internal access? In Australia most of us have a Fuel tank there. Certianly in some other countries there is a wind down spare tyre mount.

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply. I'm in Singapore, and the prado is a parallel import from Japan, a 2007 TX model. There is enough space under there for the spare to have been put there, do you guys have a bigger fuel tank, or a second one? Mine takes 80l, haven't worked out where its located yet.

Australian delivered Prados came with a second tank, total capacity of the two is 180lts. Our spare is mounted on the rear door.

Your tank is under the passenger side and infront of the rear axle (incase you are still looking :wink: )

While we may have a bigger tank than the Singapore model, I am sure that your tank will get you around your island more times than our larger tanks will get us around our island.

yeah the 80l is plenty for Singapore, I was just hoping to find someone that made storage units that fit under there. Since the Aussie prados don't have that space and the European models have that space filled with the spare, its unlikely anyone has. I might try and make one, it would be handy for putting kit in.
