Nice neat install there Strahan, good spot to tuck it away
Geoff
Im not Bogged - I've just lost traction. . . . . and now I'm showing the wife why I bought those Maxtrax, and the tyre deflator, and the compressor, and the bullbar, and the winch, and a lot of other goodies I've hidden in the Prado
Thanks for the photo Strahan - neat install! I'm waiting on a Codan - I'm not sure it'll be such a nice fit as yours. I've also considered locating the head unit face-up next to the handbrake but we may bump the buttons if I put it there. The unit is not too far off and then I'll be able to check-out the options. Thanks again for posting the photos.
I used the Kaymar HF bracket on the back of the 120 Prado, the 9350 works well on that spot. I have the 9323 head screwed to a 12mm piece of MDF thats velcro'd to the console. Not overly happy with the positioning and I'm on the lookout for something better. The head wont fit properly into the sunglass area like the IC7000 head, I used to have the IC706 head in there but now its the Codan Speaker :-) I am going to play around with a RAM mount to see how it goes near the drivers front pillar, I want it up where I can see it directly rather than looking away at the dash...A little more tinkering around to see where I can get it, its not easy as I'm reluctant to turn any part of the car into swiss cheese :-)
Thanks for the photos Nik. Even though your radio is not a close fit into the glasses holder it still looks neat and avoids installation damage. I'm with Sandman on the installation positioning the radio where you can see it without taking your eyes too far off the road, need to convince my wife though (she's laid claim to the glasses holder).
Here's my icom UHF install. Great position, especially when channel scanning - you can easily see the channel when it picks up a signal. Major bummer that I now have a dashboard crack from the vicinity of the mic mounting screws across the top of my dash...
Strahan, I have used my sunglasses holder for a speaker (the main unit is tuck up under the dash). How do you remove the button that used to secure the glasses holder?
