  • Assistance required-sourcing ARB deluxe bar b4 June

Hi all, Have purchased a 2007 GX D4D auto and need to put a bar on the front. I need a steel winch compatible unit and have been told there are none at ARB's shop at Regency (in Adelaide, i'm based in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia) and their stock computer shows none available in the warehouse.

The vehicle will be heading north for a spot of outback touring and I need to have a bar (i'll fit it myself) I thought other users might have seen one in a shop for sale, i've tried the various forums for any second hand units, without luck I might add. Not fussed if it's interstate as i'll contact the shop if there's one available and organise freight to SA.

So if anyone's seen a bar, please let me know i'd very much appreciate it. I've had TJM type 13's on other vehicles and have been happy with them, but am leaning towards the look and functionality of an ARB unit.

    Cheers for any input.

Have you rung the other ARB outlest in Adelaide? Elizabeth and Morphet Vale. What about the ARB resellers? i would try Adelaide Offroad, Cross Country 4x4, Mount Barker 4x4, Jacksons 4x4 @ Murray bridge (don't have a URL)

HI guys many thanks. Actually Shaff, your Prado got me thinking about putting the ARB unit on the vehicle. I will try a ring around of the sites listed by you, but was initially thinking someone might have wandered into a dedicated ARB store and remembered seeing a bar to fit the Prado. I'm also chasing TJM options as i've had one of their aluminium bars on a 90 Prado (very pleased) and put a steel job on a TD cruiser we had for a bit. I must say we went for the 120 because of the size, fuel economy and great run we had with the 90. The 100 series was fantastic and we had some great trips away with it but think the Prado is really under-rated while still offering all the capability of it's bigger namesake. We've only had the 120 a short time and love it; 180L standard fuel tanks for starters-how can you go wrong for touring! I've got my eye on a Kaymar rear end, and a few other goodies. We'll be going the RanOx option, have had Rotronics independent charge units which were faultless but for these new D4D motors the DC-DC option seems to be the go. Our cruiser had dual yellow tops for Aux power and a red top for cranking....We are serious about good gear and reliable gear for outback touring.

I'll let you know how I get on. THe PP site seems to be the one-stop place for all things Prado.

BTW, MT ATZ 5 ribs and tough dog variable shocks will be going on with a coil upgrade next week.
        Cheers

I had one of the last 3 in australia fitted to my prado a few weeks ago, its grey on a blue glx prado looks good, had nightstalker spotties plus piranha dual battery and a milford cargo barrier fitted as well, now the bank account is in the red, i have read about this condition on pradopoint, now i know how it feels.

                Good luck mate.

I've been trying to source a ARB Touring Roof Rack from my Prado for our Simpson Desert trip. Have been told that they will start the production run of them late July as there are ZERO available, which is no good given that we head off on the 29th of July. So this has forced me to go the Rhino Rack option instead. Ah well!

                Cheers,

Hi there, I have a Rhino Rack; we decided to keep it from the 100 series 'Cruiser when we sold it. Our 90 series Prado had an ARB steel unit, this was due to cost. After having owned both simultaneously, i'd categorically say that the Rhino is the better option when considering weight, noise (much less on the Rhino compared to ARB) and ease of installation/removal. In fact the Rhino was set up to be be removed and stored in the carport above the car. I set up a winch system that I could operate solo to place the rack on the car when needed and remove when not required. Not having the rack on the car helped cut overall noise and improved fuel economy. Plus it made life easier when I needed to go into the city and use a multi level car park. The rack was really used when we headed bush.
                    Cheers

ARB also do a Alloy which, including the weight of the mounts is about the same weight as the Rhino tray with roof racks as well. I think both have there advantages and disadvantaged but what I like with the Rhino option is you can remove the tray and have the racks for carrying gear. I do not have rails (April 2006 build) so three Aero bars are fitted at all times.

Thanks to those who give some options to chase along. I'm going to wait for the TJM bar, the new T13 updated model as noted in another post. I found here on the PP website details about the new model and i'm sold on it. Seeing as I will have to wait for either bar, i'll be going for the TJM unit. While i'm waiting i can decide if i'll get it colour coded (am tending towards this option).
                        Cheers all
