Re: NEW GME UHF TX3440 CB
Just finished installing this on the weekend. Another idea
Got my power by popping the rear Cig lighter and seeing what color the cable was and then fiding that cable in the loom beside the drivers seat, in my case it was pink with silver stripes. This would also be handy if you were going to insatll under seat.
I then attached the uhf to a existing support. It has a large hole in the bottom of it which was overcome with a large washer and the one large bolt attaching the mounting bracket. Hint - small hands would have been helpful doing up the bolt, but i got there in the end.
I used a mic bracket that i had made and used for a company car i used to have (no holes allowed), using a mobile phone holder. as previously disscussed.
The existing speaker is plenty and has to be turned down most of the time.
Easly viewed from drivers seat.
No drilling was required in this install.
As per usual there is normal level of frustration. You need three hands and the ability to fold in half.

Re: NEW GME UHF TX3440 CB
I only finished installing it about 30mins ago.
I scanned for anyone talking, however, I heard nothing.
I am attempting to learn how to use it, I think this will take some time digesting the manual.
My opinion for what it's worth, this thread helped me so much, it should be made a sticky.October 2003 build GLX Prado Diesel. Nudge Bar, window tinting, fitted sheepskin seatcovers, bonnet protector, cargo barrier, sandgrabba mats and empty pockets.
