  • Which Nudge Bar?

I plan to buy and fit a high loop nudge bar this weekend.

I've looked on-line at TJM, ABR and EBC's nudge bars and so far I like the look of the EBC one the most.

It goes under the bar and is all one piece whereas the TJM one appears to go through the bar (where the air intake is) and the ABR one appears to be a two piece unit with with a s/steel cross bar fixed to the alloy roll.

What are people's thought regarding these three options? Are there more out there that I haven't come across?

The high loop EBC one is 63mm (2 1/2") and is $686 - is that a reasonable price. The low loop is 76mm (3") and $600 but I need something my wife can see from the driver's seat. Somehow I thought they'd be a bit cheaper.

A arb bar costs double the price for the nudge and you do get a very good few of the front end. Talk the wife into it if thats what you want

I have been looking for a nudge bar for a while, but still not found one I like.

Personally I would NEVER install one which goes under the front bumper. It reduces the front clearance too much and you will scrape it on everything when offroad. The higher the better.

TJM's bar which goes through the bumper was my top choice, but really I just want it to mount my big driving lights.

I like the genuine nudge bar available on 100 Series Cruisers:

Still hoping the may come out with one for the Prados.

That's a good point rosco5. I don't expect to do too much heavy off road but what you say makes sense.

The other option I have is polished alloy vs polished stainless steel - every place I ring says there's is really no difference other than the alloy will go dull after a while. I'm told they are about the same weight, strength and have the same 'flexibility' as each other - would that be right. If this is true then the s/steel seems the best choice for me as I don't want to be polishing alloy and have happy with paying $200 less for a nudge bar.

Mind you, I don't necessarily expect to be told the truth by salesmen most of the time and probably value everyone's opinion here far more.

Sorry for all the dumb arse questions but I'm new to all of this. What a fantastic forum too.

I have "almost" made up my mind to go with the TJM nudge bar (stainless steel). Fitted price quoted as $650. The alloy nudge is about $200 more!

After thinking long and hard about going the full bull bar option and being a city based vehicle, I have decided it is overkill for my needs. I do plan to do a reasonable amount of country driving but I would expect 95% of that to be in the daylight hours with less risk of animal strike.
I also plan to add a couple of lights (spot and spread) to hopefully see any danger before its apon me. Thinking of Hella compacts.

Does anyone have a TJM nudge bar fitted? I would love to hear your thoughts. My search didnt turn up to much info on this.

            Thanks
