    If you run a roof rack basket or something similar Fishnut, you can store your wheel up there. then you got the best of both worlds
    Or.... get a dual wheel carrier... now that would look awesome with that door.. :wink:

      It had gone by the time I got back to my car so I didn't get a chance to quiz the owner. I'll keep my eyes peeled though...maybe it will turn up again and I can get a tour

      It does kind of look like the door might hinge upwards but I'm not sure it does - I don't think there's a way of opening the window separately and that would be a very big door to open upwards.

      It does look clean but also a bit buslike (or like a flatbacked tarago from the back). I certainly wouldn't want to lose the auxiliary fuel tank though and also wouldn't fancy trying to get to the spare if I was up to the axles in mud and sand and needed to change a wheel.

        I've been looking at this for a while, thought were of getting a dual wheel kaymar rear bar, and then importing a replacement rear door.
        Although, now some of you are reporting that the door opens same as ours, then maybe not worth the effort.

        Originally thought if it was 2 piece, one up and one down, then access to the rear could still be achieved without opening both wheel carriers.

        Still looking into this, surprisingly difficult to get good information about the doors from toyota considering the 120 is now obsolete!

          Looking at the online parts reference (ToyoDIY.com) it's basically the same door with a different outer skin.

          If it was a split door can you imagine the body work involved in fitting it to the Australian delivered body? - Reinforment of the door frame top and bottom, hinges top and bottom, gas strut mounts left and right and striker plates for the bottom half both left and right..... your panel beater would love you$$$.

          Cheaper option may be to try and source just the skin, or maybe even contact some NZ wreakers and see if they are willing to ship a second hand door to OZ :?:

            This is similar to mine as mine is also an import from Japan and a TZ spec. Fuel is 90 litre tank and spare in underneath. When doing a serious offroading trip you remove the spare and put on carrier. The advantage of spare underneath is to removes the weight from the door so less rattles in future and sag. In Kenya 90 litre fuel tank more than enough as you will come up to a petrol pump before you finish that much fuel for sure. It is a side hinged door and opens the same way as the Prados in Australia.

            If it has leather than it is a TZ-G. the TZ has all the bells and whistles except leather and sunroof. in Jaan sunroof is optional on all the specs. it does not come as standard.

            Also initially till 2006 the petrol engine on offer was the 3,400 cc (carried over from the 90 series) and not the new 4000 cc.

              The local Toyota Dealer has been getting these in for a few people in the area so I assume other Toyota dealers are now doing the same, not sure of a price but I imagine it wouldn't be cheap.
