Centre diff lock light staying on

My wife has our late 2007 GX diesel 6sp manual Prado at Minyeri (get a map) and she has to drive back to Katherine. The diff lock light is staying on and none of the usual tricks seem to work.

I did get some help from another thread on this board that she should jack up a front wheel and see if it turns which should indicate the status of the centre diff. I suppose I should not have been surprised that that didn't go down too well.

She says it goes out and the car goes OK when the transfer case lever in in the N position. I didn't even know it had an N position.

Anyone got any ideas?

Have you tried putting the transfer case in the H position?

My trick in the old Landrover Disco when this happened was to drive in reverse at fair speed and slam the brakes on.
Not sure if it would work on the Prado
Don't know if this is one of the "tricks" you mentioned but can't hurt to try it. Need to do it in a clear area of course.

Car shouldn't move if the T case is in N ( neutral ) position
