I am replacing my CV boots on my V6 prado. i have never done this to this style of vehicle before. if there are any helpful tips that may save me time or heart ache.
if you can send those pages that will be great. yes i damaged my out outer boot a couple of days ago and plus the grease in the boots don't look to healthy. both side are going to be done.
well i finshed my CV's, not that hard once you do the first one. theres one thing that i did find out was when i ordered the the outer boot from toyota that it comes as a complete set (outer - inner boots, grease, claps and clips). I did not no this until the parts turned up, and neither did the toyota spare parts guy. The boots cost $189 but i got the them for trade price as the spare parts guy order the wrong part the first time. thanks for the wksp manual MickL helped heaps.
While out playing on the weekend, one of the stainless steel straps that holds the boot on has come off the wheel end of the boot. Luckily the grease seems to have gotten on the ABS sensor causing the fault light to come on. So i stopped and found the problem. I put a long cable tie on and it seems to be holding nicely.
But i want to clean out the joint and re grease - can anyone advise what grease to use? Can i just attack it with degreaser and then blow it out and apply new grease? How much grease should i put in? Do i fill the boot?
