when selecting 4x4 h an orange light comes

hi all
still new at this but when i select 4 high a orange light comes on on the dash that has a x over the center diff and it also flashes on every now and then when its raining and goes out when dry
any help in fixing problem would be fantastic

Well that orange light is telling you the centre diff is now locked in and you are in 4WD.

What do you mean about the flashing every now and then? Does it flash even when you haven't engaged 4H?

when you shift from normal into 4h the orange light comes on. however can i ask should the 4h light in the centre of the dash also come on. and if shifted to 4l it then light up the lo light. i only got the orange light with cross regardless of hi or low.

yeah i read the manual and figured it was 4h activation but im still puzzled that when in the wet the light will come on every now and then and can stay on for a few kms but its still in normal drive

There is only one centre diff lock light and it should come on when you are in either 4H or 4L Barcode. There are no lights to show if it's in 4H or 4L.

There is only one centre diff lock light and it should come on when you are in either 4H or 4L Barcode. There are no lights to show if it's in 4H or 4L.

Thats a pity. i can see in the right light the symbols for hi and low. wonder if the grande or overseas model does have this and therefore could be setup to work

Thats for suspension ride height on the Grande model with air suspension, nothing to do with the gearbox!

I saw what you mean about the dash on the way home from work today, it does indeed say Hi, N, Lo but next to it says 'Height Control' - not noticed that before. Not having a Grande it doesn't apply anyway.

KalGXL, I have a similar problem. When in 2WD in H, the orange 4WD light flashes on very briefly (almost unoticeable) and very occassionaly. Has only happened recently and it has been raining here, so not sure if this has infleunced it?

Just for reference Arthur, it's not 2WD - the Prado is a permanent 4WD, the difference is if the centre diff is locked or not.
