  • Lockers for Grande

Hey folks, has any of the Grande guys looked at or have lockers in their rigs?
Have been 4wding for about 5yrs and previous vehicle was a 2000 Mitsi Challenger, factory LSD, almost went anywhere, and wasn't worried about dings/ dents or things blowing up. Have had my Grande for just over 1yr, and haven't attempted anything too hard. Have been reading about the diff blowups other have been having, so a bit concerned. Was originally looking at a GXL and mods, but wife bought me a Grande instead....but hey I'm not complaining.
    Cheers

The traction control works pretty well. If you find that you are limited by traction control, then you can fit lockers.

why would you bother, it has traction control and short of starting a major argument about either or , if you need more, then you should probably not have bought a prado . sorry thats just my opinion . if you don't have tc , then you should get twin diff locks . they both have failure points .
03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

I would have thought that given you have traction control then lockers would be well down the list of mods to fit.

            Cheers Andrew

They still didn't help you get to the top of that dune on the GTG though, did they?

Oi! Fair go Bushy! I got extremely close towing a 1.5 tonne trailer! The MaxTrax did the last few metres. Some rigs NOT towing didn't get over!

Ps lockers don't always help in soft sand either. Just saying

Oh, and I am aware of a 150 that didn't get over that hill, just saying, not suggesting anything dodgey so to speak

Having both I say there is absolutely no comparison. In a 120 the lockers win hands down. Can't speak for the 150's.

Absolutely hands down in the 150 also. I've seen the standard 150's get through & over obstacles and they had to go considerablly harder than I did with lockers. EASY!!!
