  • Faint Orange 4WD Dash Light

    G'day,
Got in the car the other day and noticed the orange 4wd light was on after start up. Checked the leaver and it was set in H2. I then moved the lever into H4 and noticed the dash light become brighter. Again I moved the lever into H2 and the light dimmed but stayed on. Ive tried moving it all the way through to L4, N etc etc but still have the same deal. I isolated the battery and turned the car on and no light, everything normal again. But tonight after driving to dinner with no light I got back in to drive home and again there was the faint orange 4WD light.

Both times it has happened after driving through wet conditions so im thinking its the sensor. Just wanted to know if anyone has had the same occurrence as all the other threads relate to the light not coming on at all or staying on after moving out of 4WD.

    Cheers,

Yeah im thinking it has to be something like water getting into the sensor on the gearbox. Ive looked at the older links but the pics have expired. Does anyone have pics of the sensor location on the 6 speed manual gearbox? Ill look at trying to seal it up somehow or hitting it with some crc to repel the moisture?

You've got problems if you can shift your box to H2!
