Shifting out of P
26-02-2016, 01:29 PM
Why is it that when the car is in an incline, it is difficult to shift the lever from P to R? Has anyone experienced this? Is there any issue with my transmission?
Thanks

Probably because the weight of the car is increasing the friction on the park lock.

When I park, foot on brake, shift to N, handbrake on, release foot brake then shift to P. This releases any load on the Park lock.

X2
Always make sure handbrake is holding by going neutral first on hills.

Also a great idea to engage the handbrake and release the foot brake before placing the car in park to avoid the issue.
