  • Centeral Diff Lock is Stuck

    Hi Guys,
I have a 2005 Prado VX-3 which is equivalent to Grande I guess. Anyways, few weeks back I was driving it in the desert and it was in low gear. I tried to engage the Diff Lock while the car was driving slowly and it did but the Diff Lock indicator kept flashing from that time till now and the Diff Lock is engaged and not welling to dis-engage. I have tried different combinations to make it dis-engage but no luck so far. Below are some of the things I tried.
1- Drive straight forward and then backward.
2- Drive it offroad and tough roads.
3- Replace the Diff Lock switch button.
    ........ etc

Your efforts to help are highly appreciated

Have you checked the wiring to and the electrical connector at the actuator on the transfer case?

i'm not sure which lock he is referring to.
UAE probably do have toyota diff locks as well as the centre diff lock.

Re: Centeral Diff Lock is Stuck

Not wanting to start a new topic as i thought this was close enough.
After taking the old girl out the other weekend for some driver training, after selecting LL for a short period and finishing the training attempted to disengage the centre diff lock and return it back to its normal every day position. After 10 mins it finally freed up and allowed to be repositioned.
At the time was able to pull it from LL to N but wouldnt move any further without needing what felt like a 10 tonne press to move it back through its other gates.
Any thoughts as to possible cause and rectification process appreciated
