What's This ???

I was searching for my Transfer Case breather yesterday when I came across this plug. It was located towards the passenger side of the TC on the top. It seems to come out from the rear of the TC in some split tubing.

Can anyone shed any light on it's purpose?

I havent got underneath, but on a Grande there is a bit that hangs off the transfer case. It is now standard on a 150. I expect it plugs into that.
