Hi Folks,
I have an '07 120 D4D GXL. I want to activate a solenoid with key-switched power, so that the solenoid is "on" only when the key is on. The solenoid is in the engine bay, near the fusebox so I thought the obvious source would be one of the fuses (via a double adapter such as http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SF5125)
The only key-switched fuse I could find (and I tested all fuses and empty fuse and relay sockets) was a secondary fuse for the heater/aircon blower, and that is only live when the fan is on. That works, but I don't want to have to rely on the heater fan being on all the time. (It is, but sometimes you need to turn it off, eg following a vehicle in dust)
I'm not keen on splicing into an existing harness, but will do if necessary.
Any ideas on another source?
EDIT: The electrical load is just the solenoid coil, about half an amp. The heavy current source is not part of the question.
Cheers
Frank
