  • Dual Battery ABR Sidewinder Wiring Kit

    Hi All,

    Wanted to know if anyone has installed the ABR Sidewinder Dual Battery Wiring Kit (for rear Cig/Hella Sockets) with the dual battery on the Drivers side behind the headlight. The ABR Sidewinder website notes that the kit is made to connect to a battery on the passenger side.

    I have emailed Derek at ABR Sidewinder and got the length specs of the cable (just on 6 metres) but prior to measuring up and ordering wanted to know if anyone has used this wiring kit (the kit with 2 x sockets, amp and voltmeter) to successfully hook up the battery drivers side front.

    Intend installing the Piranha Battery Tray and Redarc 1225 with this wiring kit. Still deciding if I buy the camper trailer wiring kit with Anderson Plug and tap off this to install the rear power sockets (to power the fridge) or just do the rear power kit only (minus Anderson plug).

    Thanks and any info is appreciated, feel free to PM if you require more info.

    Cheers Dave

    I installed the whole kit including the Anderson plug kit, booster diode and ABR battery tray a few years ago. Fits and works perfectly, especially like the resettable fuses. I also got the remote display/switch which I mounted in the cabin.

    A few comments;
    1. Save your money, get the voltage booster diode and normal VSR. My mate has a charger and my VSR and booster work better on long camping trips.
    2. Be really careful when putting the wires through the firewall. There is a lot of info on this forum on this. Best to cut off the little nipple near the main loom and pass wires through that.
    3. To pass the wires through the rear wheel arch remove the cup holder, it makes the job of pulling wires a lot easier.
