Hi, I bought a new key from eBay for my prado, I have followed the instructions and can only get the key to lock and unlock the car, it will not unlock the immobiliser. I have a CN2 chip inside the key supplied, is this the wrong one? Even a security company/key cutter couldn't get it to work, I have tried the videos online, and other help? Thanks

G'day Scott, the remote transponder keys can be a bit hit n miss in some cases. There is 2 components to coding the key, central locking and immobiliser.
The hardest part I have found having purchased numerous transponder keys in the past is the central locking part. For the immobilser to be coded in the key you need to get that done usually by toyota using your master key. This effectively copies the electronic signature of your master key to your new key.
I have got a number of keys here that i can use for my prado but none of them will accept the central locking part of the programming. Hope this has been helpful.2003 GXL Burgundy Dual Fuel Prado

I have a key problem too, but mine appears to be something to do with the source of electric power inside the body of the key. The reaction time of the door lock has slowed down over time until a couple of days ago when the doors did not open at all. Is it possible to buy a new battery and put it in yourself?
