  • Running 4 b&s or larger cable possible?

Hi, after some thought i want to run 4 b&s twin cable from main battery to boot and terminate with 175 amp anderson (then just use the 175 into 3 50 amp plugs).
Can the 4 b&s be run inside the cabin easily without being obvious due to its size?
Alternatively i understand theres a grommet somewhere in passenger rear quater panel (but i cant find it) so i can us chassis rail to run cable. Id rather inside thou.
Ps. Its a grande, so not sure if the added electrics will interfere with cable path.
    Thanks

6B&S is all that is required in most cases. It is more manageable too and you don't have to get the large 175A Anderson plugs.

I've seen on this forum that several people have run multiple runs of 6B&S so i'd think 4B&S would be OK.
The grommet is in the floor under the jack panel in the rear of the car (in the 150 GXL anyway, not sure about the 120 sorry).

My understanding is that there's two grommets either side. One in the jack compartment (I think that's where my TowPro runs) and one in the drivers side. This video shows you where the drivers side is located. From about 1:45/1:50.

Thanks. Ill try locate grommets over weekend, maybe even pull some carpet to find a path.
I'm only thinking about 4 B&S as I already have it on hand. And to "future proof". As if my wife would give up the resorts for a camper trailer.
          Thanks again.

It isn't too hard to pull up the door floor trims - there is a channel under them that runs along the car. I've only looked at the front door bits so far (my cable is running across the carpet...) but I've seen photos of other people doing it.

You'll probably need to remove the left passenger footwell kick panel to get at the grommet in the firewall - there is one on the passenger side under the "relay" box on the firewall on our car. It's pretty fiddly to get a large cable through but it is possible - you just need to make a big enough hole in the grommet.

Used Jaycar 4 Gauge for the main power to rear of car.

Then to a fuse box and either 6B&S or 16B&S to the rear anderson plug.

              Rear fuse box.

              Under bonnet circuit breakers.

The main wire runs inside the chassis to the rear of the car, RHS and into the rear guard through the plastic plug.

Has proven to be very reliable with nil volt drop measurable.

              Rusty.

i ended up buying 6b&s twin cable. probably install this weekend. ill see how it goes during the week and change over if not charging fully.

on a side note, im not too keen on getting everything reset and stereo asking for pin numbers. i have access to a thumper battery and a wall charger with aligator clamps. can i connect something to something else that will prevent the sat nav from going into PIN code mode while i install the dual battery wiring? i know the windows are pretty easy to reset, im just concerned i dont have the radio pin number around.
