  • ABS rear sensor cable

    Hey Fellas

Seeing if someone could confirm if the rear abs sensor cable is replaced as one piece for both rear sides for my 1kz 120 series.

looking at parts sheet and the order number looks like it is for both sides ?

toyota want $320 which they can shove but the parts isonly around $100 plus postage from Amayama.

    Thanks in advance

Yep it's one cable for both sides. If you order it from amayama, compare the price and postage from uae and Japan. I've found sourcing from Japan is usually cheaper.

Mine got hit by a flying stone and was replaced with a 2nd hand one from a reliable wrecker. I think it cost about$100 inc. postage from a big wrecker in Newcastle.

Still fault finding my issue with my ABS, VSC lights all up. I took my car into ABS Springwood and put a tester on to see what codes were being spat out to narrow it down. The code is C0215 - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Signal fault. So I need to check continuity back to the Skid Control ECU which sits in behind the dash somewhere near the fuse panel. I tried pulling the connector off which sits on top of the rear Airbag (mines a Grande) but I couldnt separate it and didnt want to damage it any more. I'll pull the plug on the ECU and start from there checking for continuity back to the sensor plug.

Found the broken wire at the Rear left wheel sensor plug. Now to order the new cable. Part number 89516-60090 Amayama has 2 prices. 1. ex UAE 3 days ($88.26) and 2. Ex Japan 13 days ($109.05) From memory there will be shipping on top of that also

            Looks like this

Thanks MJ. I would've repaired it but their wasn't enough slack in the cable at the sensor to cut and re-terminate/solder at the plug. Whilst I could have done a dodgy and cut and insert some wire before the plug, I wouldn't be happy with it, so replacing the complete cable is best (for me)

                    ABS rear sensor cable

Replacement cable arrived Friday and just finished installing. Took about 1/2 an hour. Hardest part was accessing and unplugging the cable at the top of the rear Spring ( or in my case Airbag) cap. Took the Prado for a quick lap around the block and the dash lights cleared once speed got up to around 30Km's.
