I took Drivesafe's advice and installed 6 B&S wire to the AGM battery, (much heavier gauge than I was using) still using the Ctech and it solved my problems, now getting up to 14.2v with no obvious voltage difference at both ends. I ran them down through firewall and under left side door sill. I'll wait till I get my fridge and see how the Cteck performs. When I find time I'll install Leigh's diode but for now I'm happy it all seems to work fine. I've also got a 240v Cteck which charges the same battery from 11v in about 3-4 hrs and if the dc-dc Cteck in the car performs the same then I'll be happy. Thanks for the advice.

I have installed Leigh's diode and very pleased, Have not done any extensive testing but before my ABR battery meter never went full bar unless idled up and all accessories etc off. Now I have full bars at idle even with the headlights on.
I have have very heavy cabling already that I had purchased from ABR Sidewinder. Two great people to deal with Derek at ABR and LeighW

maybe i am cynical. but that looks like a standard fuse for $30
Yep, that's the same seller. I paid $37 delivered. Fitted this device yesterday afternoon. Good easy to understand instructions. My charge rate went from 13.5v to 14.1v with the car hot. Fan bloody tastic! best $37 i've spent, even better then the washer jet upgrades and they're great!
Far out, they're going like hot cakes - I just clicked on "Buy it Now" and someone else beat me to it by 10 seconds.

Forgive my ignorance but is this only for the D4D? I have a pre D4D and the way I read the ebay page is that my model already gives out enough voltage, is this correct?
I have a dual battery setup and I would like to make sure I'm getting the most out of the car I can.

It all gets back to are you having a problem keeping your batteries charged?
All modern alternators are temperature compensated meaning they reduce their output
voltage as the engine bay temperature increases. To put it simply as the battery environment
gets hotter and the battery heats up less voltage is required to fully charge it.
In the Prado D4D series the voltage is reduced even more for upcoming anti emission requirements
resulting in a slow battery charge rate.
In the 200 series the voltage has been reduced for both the petrol and diesel models and the problem is
common to both fuel types.
Though I haven't seen anything yet I also suspect it would apply to the 150 petrol version as well
as the D4D version.
You can use the Alternator Voltage Booster on any alternator to lift the voltage but you do need to
check that the cold and hot voltage ranges stay within safe limits.
In your case if your not having a problem charging your batteries then don't worry about it,
if you are then you need to look at the cold and hot voltage readings and decide if an increase
would be beneficial.
Cheers
Leigh
