I wired mine in last night, Hella 400 compacts spead and pencil.
After driving with these I can notice a huge gain in light to the point where you have to dip the lights for street signs. The pencil beam seems to be to concentrated and the spread is far better. I was thinking of getting the bigger size 4000's which have a better reflector.

Just got the computer hooked up half an hhour ago, will ask someone to show me how to do photos. Have to fit suspension on weekend, cb dual batteries, tow bar, fridge wiring in next 3 weekends before my 4 YES!! 4 week fishing trip up north,so I will be a busy boy!!.
My mate has the larger 4000's Drew so he is going to fit hids in them and then I can compare the 2 side by side. I think two big speads will be the way to go. Cheers Phil.

Top stuff Phil. Too little time, too many things to do - I know the feeling

Mate, I went looking and found 4443 items listed. Have you got a pic of the box or a brand name I can search on.

I'm thinkin' that with that much light 2 spreads could be a good option.

Hi Chippy, the kit i bought had 'oz seller' written around the picture, and I paid $169.50 i think. Have only just fitted them so can't tell you how long they have lasted. I also saw a genuine siemens kit (out of Germany) for $400 which is what i would buy if buget allows it is worth the money.
I can not under stand why genuine hellas are so expensize.
Even standard hella compacts retail for over $900 for a pair. I got mine for under ($400 dealer price) off coventrys. Cheers Phil

              Thanks Phil

I like the price you paid rather than the $400.

I've got a set of Nane spotties (spread and spot) on the bus at the moment - and just about anything would be better than the candles in the at the moment.

              Cheers

Ordered my IPF HID's today - 2 spreads plus 1 spot.

I am a firm believer in overkill, so am hoping this will do it!!!

                    Hi Phil

What temperature globes did you get? Has any of the group had experience with the higher temperature globes as I am assuming that they have a shorter service life. I see some of the sellers are recommending 6000K but they don't explain why

Friendly dealer said he would swap it for 2 spots and a spread if I wasn't happy.

I think the config I have chosen probably makes more sense - however we'll see.

                        Jacto,

The explanations I've heard are that 6000K represents the whitest form of light that is easiest on the eyes. Although, I heard one dealer saying exactly the same thing about 4300K.

The higher 8,000K or 10,000K lights produce a more purplish tinged light that seems much less effective and more distracting.

Here's the next question, is paying more mean getting better quality cos some of these kits are going for around $115 plus postage and up to whatever $$ and they all claim their's are the best quality and they all seem to be held in warehouses overseas for shipping even though the seller is based in Oz

Hard to say since just about all of it is coming out of China. I think the only thing you could safely rely on was a good experience of someone you know. Hopefully, someone here will be able to point you in the right direction.

I have seen wild fluctuations in prices of kits and some of them have no discernable difference.

Unfortunately to me, it's all a bit of a crapshoot.

Which is why I went the IPF route, as it is probably one of the more (relatively) reasonably priced factory HID set-ups. Still a bit dear for lights though... they'd better be bloody awesome is all I can say.

Hey Grandeman, just asked the seller about replacement globes just in case and they are $95 pair delivered. Not too many of them listing H9 kits for the IPF XS lights so I might be limited to who I go to. Phils supplier has them at $169.90 plus $29 postage but they look very similar to another supplier who has them for $115 plus $35 postage so a bit of difference seeing as they both come from overseas. Can't afford or justify the IPF upgrade.

                                hey Jacto,

There's a real chance of either landing a screaming bargain or getting sold a pup. From what you say, they're probably going to be OK though(fingers crossed).

Why not try asking Phil's supplier to match the other price?
