Exhaust Gas Temps on 1kz With 3" Exhaust

Anyone out there with a 1KZ fitted a 3" exhaust and an EGT gauge? Just wondering what sort of EG temps you are running particularly if towing a camper up a long hill? My EGT alarm is set at 600 degrees celsius and does go off when towing up a long climb. I am wondering whether my alarm is set too low,given that the bigger exhaust should reduce the EGT.

MUMSRIG gets to 600 also but very rarely. She'd have to be fully laiden and towing up a pretty big incline for that though...

My egt runs around 420 when towing the caravan and the auto teams temp sits around 120 c, when they both start to climb especially the auto temp I flick it across to 4th to reduce both temps. If climbing a long steep hill like heading to toowoomba from brisbane the egt heads north of 500 degrees c regardless what gear I am in.
