Hi

My 1kzte is running slightly rough at idle, particularly when cold and always at idle with the air conditioner running.

There are no error codes using the manual method of checking (bridging on the OBD).

It has new injectors, valves are fine, fuel filter is new, glow plugs new. Air cleaner fine. Has been anti carboned and egr blocked.

Has a 2 3/4" beadesert system.

The thing is it pulls really well so its only at idle that its slightly rough. Given that the air con makes it worse I think its something like a fast idle sensor or something similar. Funny thing is that when the dtronic is fitted it seems to make very little difference to power so maybe they it linked into it somehow. The dtronic is not fitted ATM.

Has me stumped.

I would be checking all your hoses, vacuum hoses in particular to see if any are cracked or loose or split or got knocked off at some stage.

Check the simple things first. I'd look for an air leak on the fuel system. Install a length of clear pvc tube from the fuel filter to the injector pump and look for bubbles.

A long time ago MickL had a thread about removing the throttle butterfly if you're egr is blocked, it helps smooth out the idle but makes the shutdown a bit rough. Can't say I noticed any difference in the shut down though.
Just a thought.

Well, after a lot of mucking about I cleaned the MAF sensor and I think its fixed.

Now I REALLY feel silly. I did look at it but thought it looked okay but bought some spray and gave it a clean and hasn't done it yet.

Fo the Record I had my MAF sensor thoroughly cleaned recently and it was amazing the difference it made to the engine. Went like a different vehicle. I've the same exhaust as you too, just gave it more go.

Just a question at idle what are your revs? Mine is 700 and to me the engine sounds if that is to high is it possible to adjust it to say 600 revs?

700 is stock and not adjustable, it is regulated by the ECD. Might sound fast if you are used to a six banger which usually idles slower due two more pots to smooth things out.

I had a six banger before it was a petrol and that 1 was doing 500 revs. I have now a diesel so it surprised me that it is running on a higher rev then petrol six banger.

Hi guys, I am new to this amazing forum. I have a similar problem and would like some feedback.

I own a 2007, 120 series with a 1KD FTV engine. The problem with my vehicle is a low 550-650 idle speed without the AC on. At this speed there is an obvious rough idle which disappears when the AC is switched on.
I have done everything possible, changed all four injectors, replaced the engine mounts, changed the fuel filter and cleaned the MAS sensor but to no avail.
Is there anything else that would cure this???
