hi guys,
Getting my D4D serviced soon and my screen checked in 170,000 service.
When i asked the service department, the guy said that they will also test the injectors and see what it comes back with. If they are out of range (+/-5?) then they will contact me and possibly do a compression test. He said can take it can take at best 3hrs. He also said that sometimes glowplugs can break when removed or during removal. They then would need to re-tap the thread. Fingers crossed that doesnt happen.
I have never even looked at glow plugs on a diesel before, but i would of assumed they would be easily removed like a spark plug? Is the service interval on a set of glow plugs longer than spark plugs and they can become seized in place?
Has this happened to anyone? through all that i have read about this issue, no one has said anything about their glow plugs breaking when removed to carry out a compression test?
Thanks to everyone for your experiences in this and all things Prado.
Nate
