1kz up to d4d engine specs

Hi guys , I have an 06 1kz td 185 ks tow a caravan close to 2.5 tonne , tows great when it gets going but on the hills it really struggles, engine is all standard so wondering what mods i could do to bring performance up, don't know if its possible to bring it up to d4 d standards , don't want to go to a pajero but so much more power, looked at a few 09 models but not the same build as the Prado ,no where near as solid ????
Well any advice and tips would be much appreciated ,
I haven't driven a d4d would look at an 07/08 model for affordability really,are they much better power and towing wise,

I have the same vehicle but manual, I have a DP Chip which made a big difference, but the biggest improvement was after I fitted a 3" exhaust system.
I would back it to perform as well as a stock D4D, but certainly not in economy!

I have a 06 d4d my mate who I mostly travel with has a 04 1kz both have no engine mods
I have not driven his but when were loaded up with camper trailer mine leaves his well behind especially when going up hills
we haven't worked out the fuel difference but I always use less
is it worth upgrading I dunno find one and take it for test drive!
have you given your intake manifold a clean? If you haven't look it up on here, it was a noticeable difference on his.

Definately an exhaust upgrade makes a huge difference.
Much better on the hills etc.
As to if its as good as a D4D i doubt it but it is simple and cheaper on repairs.
My pipe below was an exccelent fit,so happy it was the 1st choice for a cruiser pipe.
