Cannot tell you definately what the factory interval is but it is mentioned. I have 60k for the 'tween tanks filter and 40k for the under bonnet filter in my head for some reason. However I used to change one or the other every 10k on the 120 and will probably do the same on the 150. That way no filter was in more than 20k and I used to forensically examine them after replacement. If you look at the preventative maintenance thread on the D4D started by John the Roo I think he mentions that you can change both at 60k if you have the 3rd party filter before the final under bonnet filter.

It is the between the tank filter that is the one changed every 20k. The under bonnet one is only changed when the light comes on, which is not a great system if it comes on in the middle of nowhere. MJ'S,s idea on swapping alternate filters every 20k seems like a pretty sensible idea.

Anyway, with most good diagnostic tools, you can do a pressure test after you have done the job, to check for leaks in the system. It's part of the procedure.
I mean, if you get a leak in number four, what a bastard of a job. You always know, pretty well, when you are undoing those union nuts, if they have been over torqued or not. So this is when I usually have a talk to my customer about the extra for new pipes.

Not sure on the Micron, I have one sitting here and no mention of Micron size on the box or the filter. Part number is 23300-30310, a quick google of that number and the word "micron" might help you find out. I had a quick look but nothing definitive came up straight away.

I cannot believe that TOYOTA do not accept this is a common fault and a manufacturing defect.
Bottom line is sounds like a new short motor.
Hope I am wrong but give me a PM if you need any info as I have just been through this exercise.
Oil screen full of carbon, engine starved for oil. #1 Cylinder scored.
Will be talking to insurance company when I get home. Not impressed, to say the very least.'04 120 Petrol Flinders Red GXL

Thanks Skywalkerrun and AJ120. Im going to stick with the Toyota filter , call me a fool but I have just spent a shit load of money on new injectors, seats pipes (twice) and seals etc, so Im not going to take the risk on after market filters. P.S. Just had the Baileys DLC injectors fitted and touch wood, the Prados running like a rocket! Smooth idle and no RATTLE or SMOKE! Thanks also to the Roo for all your advice as well. Worth noting that in Donaldson's explanation of beta standards they mention the tendency of some manufacturers to give multiple micron ratings. I have just read a post attributing and promoted this as a very special feature of a particular brand of filter. The posters interpretation is wrong. So there can be no mistake I am not criticizing this poster but I mention it as it is just an example of not quoting beta standard when microns are mentioned. Also this is not a criticism of the particular manufacturer but an example of how micron ratings on their own are not only meaningless but open to misinterpretation. The truth is all filters can quote like this and all are correct so nothing special.
Fellas please find out the beta standard stated by the filter manufacturer and state it in your post if you mention microns. Without the applicable beta standard you are simply talking gobblygook. To those who do not read the link in my previous post please do so before replying.2007 120 GX, automatic, diesel, 2in lift Bilsteins King springs, rear swaybar extended link pins, ARB lockers, TJM bull bar and bash plate, dual AGM batteries, Provent 200, Donaldson prefilter, Uniden UHF radio, IPF driving lights, Koita fog lights, roofrack

This is probably the extreme - and as far as I can tell, Toyota doesn't even look at the P/U screen on a service....
But that is the condition of my screen when engine was making "death rattle"....'04 120 Petrol Flinders Red GXL
