Toyota got the new injectors in late last week and I let them have the car yesterday. They replaced injectors 1 and 4 which is odd because on the first time around they replaced #4.
Like Crammy says, it's better but I don't think that it's 100%. There's still a rattle at light to moderate throttle and I think it is about the same as when I got it back after the first injector change. The thing that worries me is it got worse after the first injector change and it was worse than before i took it in for the first time.
I'm wondering if we are getting real fixes with these injector replacements. I can appreciate that new ECU software can go some way to improving the situation but if there is a fundamental flaw with the injectors then it is going to take a while for Toyota to diagnose it, come up with a solution, re-tool the production line for the new injectors. It won't be a fast chain of events.
Cheers,
Tim

Just to let other know - my mate with the really rattly Prado at 40,000kms had all injectors replaced and problem solved so far. He didnt mention a computer reflash so I will ask. Mine is awaiting a check on return from the Flinders Ranges.
2007 Prado VX D4D, With a lot less options lately!
Does anyone know if these replacement injectors are different in design to the originals?
The self clean programming sounds interesting. Does it use more fuel during "self cleaning"?
Mine was replaced with the same model injector but they did do the ECU flash.

Just got off the phone with the dealer and they first tried to tell me its all normal, i obviously wasnt happy with that answer and he said that there is a fix coming with different injecters and ecu reflash but nothing has come through yet because the new injecters are in demand for the new Prados coming off the line..................maybe hope or alot of B.S.?
The wife got the reflash done last monday while I was away and was told to put approx 1000km on it to burn off all the carbon.

hey guys n gals ive bin readin this forum for a few months. Now ive actually bought a gxl diesel auto all quiet so far ( 120 k's ) the dealer acknowledged his work car (gxl diesel auto had an injector problem at 300 km an was fixed no drama )..... so here i am ... awesome piece of machinery ..... diesel mechanic an fussy bastard
I am from Tassie, My father, brother and I all have Feb, march and April Diesel 07 Hiluxs. Mine and Dads have done 50k and they rattle REALLY Bad. Brothers has only done 20k and not as bad.
I rang the dealer and they just passed it off and said they are looking into it and will put i form in to Toyota. If anyone has Specifics of exactly what their dealer did to fix their Noise I would very much appreicate knowing so i can ring my dealer back.

Mate if you have D4D engines which I assume you do then it will need to have an injector or two replaced. Just ask your dealer to run the injector testing routine as laid out by Toyota Corporate, they will then have to submit the results to them and then T.C. will pass judgement on whether they will authorise the replacement of the injectors.
