  • Plumb to atmosphere

I'm planning on doing this also but where are you guys running the hose to, and are you leaving the end open or fitting a filter in the end.

Is pushing it inside the guard somehow enough or will I be subject to water when it rains or water crossings

Taking stab in the dark here, I'm assuming the crankcase ventilation hose? If so don't do it! It's illegal and makes a mess. You need to run at least a filter before venting to atmosphere, and if you're going to do that just plumb it back in.

I do have a provent 100 not yet fitted

I was going to plumb into that to catch the oil and then atmosphere.

I was wondering where you guys the other end.

If its illegal, then maybe I wont do it. Just use the catch can and then back

I agree, venting engine to atmosphere is silly.
Anyone doing this or recommending it is giving inappropriate & irresponsible advice.
              Please don't do it.

*There is no advantage at all*

Oil will leak on the roadways, then it rains, it ends up in our rivers, streams & bays.
Also it makes the roads slippery, leading to a contribution to injury & deaths of innocent families.
              Very dangerous behaviour.

Some decisions in life about the right thing to do are a fine line, this is not one of those.
Please leave the positive crankcase in a vacuum situation, it will clear the moisture as it was designed to best that way.

              Cheers,

              ####.

                Hi ####, See below please.

On another matter, I have a 120 Prado D4D and I think I read on this forum a post from you (maybe) about resetting the opening times of the EGR on the computer. This appeared to be a better option than blocking of the hole.
I apologise if not from you but if you could point me in the right direction it will be much appreciated.
                Kind regards
                Jon

Hi ####, I found the post about re-mapping from Ozbush which sounds very interesting but would still like to find the previous post as above.
                  Kind regards
                  Jon

How is this vacuum state you refer to generated within the crankcase. If this were how the 1KDs crankcase ventilation system worked there would be no need for a catch can.
