  • Beaudesert Exhaust and Economy

    I have read lot on here about people that have put on different exhausts and the increases in power and torque. I can't however find any figures of before and after with economy. I am looking at putting a Beaudesert Exhaust 2.75" on mine but am keen to know how much it will save on fuel.

    1kz/manual gearbox- saved approx 1lt/100km (full exhaust inc ceramic coated dump pipe)


    Long term trending of fuel economy (I keep a log book for tax reasons)

    Car new/ no mods 10.5 lt/100
    With mods crept up too 11.9 lt/100
    Exhaust and Dtronic back down to 10.7

    Above numbers are average for those fills with no towing or off road driving.
    80% city driving.

      Thanks for you reply Mick, certainly interesting figures.
      Did you get the chip and the exhaust done at the same to or independent? I was jus wonder if that 1/100 was from botht the chip and exhaust or just the exhaust.

        Exhaust fitted first, chip about 4-5 months later.

        My figures are not very scientific as the driving conditions varied a lot. I am only pulling the numbers out of my log book.

        In my circumstance it looks like 0.8 to 1 lt/100 saving with the exhaust and the rest with the chip.

        I did these mods for a performance increase, not chasing better fuel figures. I always hated the poor off idle performance and turbo lag (made worse by the fact it's a manual) of the 1kz.

        From a pure performance gain point of view I'm very happy, the slight fuel economy increase is just the icing on the cake for me

        Next is a basic gate/shuttle valve boost controller and FinerFilter in the air box.

          Mick, thanks very much for those figures, they are exactly what I was after. I will now go ahead and do it. Most places seem to be talking 10% more power and torque. Gotta be happy with that

              I will more than likely fit it myself yes. I am at the moment getting a price off the local guy but suspect that Beaudesert will be the most cost effective even with delivery.

                Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered an exhaust from beaudesert today . Just have to wait for it to arrive now, apparently it will be here in about a week. Will start spraying the bolts on the dump pipe over the next couple of days to help a bit.
                Will let you know how it goes

                  Well had the exhaust on for a couple of weeks now and it has made heaps of difference. I am not sure that the power of the car has increased all that much but it is much torquier now. The turbo spools up a lot lower in the rev range as well so it doesn't bog down as much around corners. I didn't end up putting the system on so their isn't any pictures sorry. I was impressed with how the exhaust noise hasn't increased at all while in the car.
