I have a 2005 GXL TD manual with about 36000 km. Almost since new it will increase engine temp. as I drive up long step hills. This usually occurs as I cruise at 100/110kph and try to maintain that speed with the cruise control. It mostly does. The gauge is normally a bit over a third and moves about three needle widths to about half. It returns to normal soon after the hill. I thought it was normal as a diesel produces more heat as it gets more fuel. It came up in conversation when I was researching ECU chips for the car and one of the guys thought that Toyota cooling systems should be able to handle the extra work on the engine. Any Gurus with advice?
Thanks
